Give thanks for God's blessings.
“And if you would count the favors of Allah, you would not be able to number them” (Ibrahim: 34).
Mentioning the blessings of Allah in fact creates a spirit of gratitude, confession of Tawheed and worship and this is the real reason for success in the Hereafter. The Almighty says:
“Remember the blessings of Allah that you may be saved.” (Al-A'raf: 69)
Allah Almighty has also commanded His Messengers to remember His blessings. He said to Eissa:
“Eissa, son of Maryyum! Remember My blessing which I bestowed on you and your mother, I helped you with the Holy Spirit, You talked to people in the cradle and even when you reached old age, I gave you the Book and He taught wisdom and the Torah and the Angeel.
Then by My command you made the clay into a thin bird and breathed into it, and by My command He became a bird, then by my command You made the blind and the leper better. You used to drive out the dead by My command. But when you came to the Children of Israel with clear proofs, and those who disbelieved among them said: These are only signs, then I gave them to you. Saved from (Al-Ma'idah: 110)
Allah said to our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him):
"Didn't he find you an orphan and give you a place?" (Of course he did) and when I saw that you was unfamiliar with the path, I showed you the straight path and when I found it difficult, enriched it.
Hazrat Hud (as) asked his people to remember the blessings of Allah in these words:
"And remember when He made you leaders after the people of Noah and gave you more proliferation."
Hazrat Saleh (as) said to his people:
“Remember the time when Allah made you successors after the people of Aad and gave you the position in the earth that you would build a majestic palace in its flat plains.”
Hazrat Shoaib (as) said to his people:
"Remember the time when you were few then Allah made you great."
And Moses said to his people:
"Remember the favor of Allah which He has bestowed upon you. He delivered you from the people of Firoon who afflicted you with hardships, killed your sons and spared your wives."
Allaah addressed Aws and Khazraj and said:
"Remember the favor of Allah which He has bestowed upon you. You were enemies of one another. He united your hearts and by His grace you became brothers."
Allaah says to His believing slaves:
“Remember when you were few, you were considered weak in the land, you feared lest people should destroy you, then Allah gave you shelter and strengthened your hands with His help. And provide for you a good provision.
After the battle of the parties, Allah Almighty said:
"Remember the favor of Allah which He has bestowed upon you (just now). When the armies came upon you, We sent against them a furious wind and sent forth hosts which you could not see."
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to the Ansaar: I find you astray, so Allaah guided you through me and put peace in your hearts and you were poor. Through me, Allaah enriched you. (Agreed upon).
Once the Companions were mentioning the blessings of Allah that the Prophet (peace be upon him) came. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) asked him why he was sitting, he said, "We are talking about the guidance that Allaah has given us in Islam and the other favors He has bestowed on us."
The fact is that whatever is between the earth and the sky is a gift from Allah to man. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"And He has made all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth subservient to you by His command."
And only through religion is it possible for man to fulfill the blessings of Allah.
"Today We have perfected your religion for you, and We have completed Our favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion."
Allah Almighty commanded to rejoice at the blessing of the revelation of the Qur'an. He said:
''say it! (This book) is by the grace of Allah and His grace (revealed) so people should be happy with it. "
According to Ibn Abbas, grace here means the Qur'an. Concerning which Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): In every rak'ah of the steadfast prayer, keep on praying in these words:
اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Whoever thinks that Allah Almighty has made him the inheritor of Paradise with guidance and someone else has been deprived of it, then the value of Allah's blessings in his heart increases immensely. In the Holy Qur'an, the words of one who saw his companion burning in Hell are as follows:
"By God, you were going to destroy me." Had it not been for the grace of my Lord, I would still be among those who are caught. "
Health and well-being is a great blessing of Allah. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty! That is, seek protection from troubles, calamities and evils, because till today no person has received any blessing more than well-being. ”(Musnad Ahmad)
And like health, leisure is a great blessing. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
"Two blessings are such that many people are indifferent to them. Health and leisure. "
One of the ways to give thanks for blessings is to praise and glorify God Almighty. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
"Allah Almighty says that if a servant eats a morsel of food or takes a sip of a drink, he should praise Allah for it."
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"And keep on remembering the blessings of your Lord."
One way to be thankful for a blessing from God, such as guidance, is to rejoice in the fact that God has given us guidance and steadfastness. Thanks to a blessing like wealth to spend in the way of God, and thanks to a blessing like well-being to keep all one's limbs in obedience to God.
To those who are deprived of God's blessings. Keeping in mind increases the value of his blessings. When the Holy Prophet (sws) used to go to bed, he would praise Allah for his blessings and remember the people who were deprived of blessings.
"Every kind of praise is beautiful for the one who fed us, watered us, gave us enough and gave us shelter. There are so many who have neither a sufficiency nor a place to live.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said at one point:
"Look at that which is inferior in worldly terms, do not look at that which is above you, it is very possible that in this way you will avoid despising the blessings of Allah."
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) often recited the following supplication:
“O Allah! I seek refuge in You, from the disappearance of blessings, from the return of well-being, from the sudden seizure and from all kinds of Your wrath.
If one does not give thanks for the blessings of Allah, they will not remain. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"And remember, your Lord warned that if you are grateful, I will give you more, and if you are ungrateful, My punishment is severe."
When a person commits a sin, according to his sin, any blessing disappears. Imam Ibn Qayyim says:
Disobedience consumes blessings like fire and wood. When you see that blessings are being bestowed upon you in spite of disobedience, then you should be afraid that this may be extradition.
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"Those who have denied Our revelations, We will gradually lead them to destruction in such a way that they will not even know it. '
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: When you see that Allaah is bestowing blessings on a servant in spite of his disobedience, that is istidraj. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited this verse:
“Every time they forgot the admonition that was given to them, We opened for them the gates of every kind of prosperity, until they rejoiced in the gifts that were given to them. So all of a sudden we caught them and now they were disappointed in everything. "
Man should be careful about every blessing and give thanks, otherwise this blessing can lead to death. In addition, human beings will be asked about every blessing bestowed on them, whether they appreciated it or not. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
"On the Day of Resurrection, the servant will first be asked about the blessing. Did We not give you a healthy body and irrigate it with cold water?"
There are some unfortunates for whom blessing becomes a cause of torment. Allah Almighty said:
“It is not your wealth or your children that bring you nearer to Us, but those who believe and do righteous deeds, these are the ones for whom there is a double recompense for their deeds, and they will be content in lofty mansions.
Hazrat Hassan Basri says: "Allah Almighty benefits the servant as long as He wills. When he gives thanks, Allah turns him into a torment." Muslims! Allah is very generous, His hands are full, He is flowing the river of generosity day and night, He is the All-Knowing and the All-Wise, He bestows blessings on every servant according to his condition. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"And if Allah were to enlarge the provision for His slaves, they would certainly cause mischief in the land, but Allah sends down as much as He wills with a measure."
Allah Almighty is very subtle. He sometimes withholds blessings according to the desires of the servant, and causes him to suffer in order to elevate the ranks of the believer. And the believer lives between gratitude and pleasure and between patience and asking for forgiveness.
